welsh fit-out for wsp

Workplace interiors specialist eastlake commercial interiors (eci), has recently been tasked with the interior design of  a brand new, welsh themed office for one of the world’s fastest-growing design, engineering and management consultancies.   eastlake commercial interiors (eci) were given the challenge to create a new and dynamic interior workspace for WSP with the additional challenge to complete the project in only five weeks.

Aileen Rooney, major accounts consultant with eci said “The building we were presented with was no more than an empty shell with only the lighting in place . Despite the tough deadline, the eci team relished taking on the challenge of transforming the building into the modern and spacious working environment of today.

Julie Low - major accounts director for eastlake commercial interiors (eci) says,  ‘’our team worked in partnership with WSP to co-design the space to reflect the working activities of the WSP people, and ensure the workspace was a motivational and inspirational place that works as a catalyst to improve business performance  ‘’

WSP specialises in property, transport and environmental projects and employs over 9500 staff operating out of over 250 offices worldwide.  Before the move the firm’s Wales operation had been based over three floors in two separate buildings.  The new 7,328 sq ft open plan office space has desk space for 88 employees, and allows all staff to be based in one building, on one floor.

Sodilva Smith, project manager for WSP said,  “The office move has gone extremely smoothly and it’s fantastic to now see everyone working together under one roof.  We feel that the modern open plan office space will no doubt improve the way the office functions by helping everyone work together more efficiently as a team.  Our staff are  delighted with their new office environment and are settling in really quickly.”

The new WSP  design scheme is based around a Welsh theme which has been incorporated throughout the design of the office, with red being the predominant colour.  A themed wall graphic is currently being designed for the reception area which will include images from across Wales and each of the meeting rooms have been named after Welsh rivers.

The Eastlake Group has completed a number of other projects for WSP, including their Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London, Hertford, Exeter, Maidstone, Birmingham and Dublin offices.

The new interior design of the Cardiff office will now set the standard for all the other WSP offices around the country in the future.
