Why we consider it
- Buildings, and in particular offices, account for approx 50% of UK energy use and a similar amount of CO² emissions
- Their construction uses about 50% of all raw materials used in industry
- They consume about 40% of the UK’s water
- They are major users of imported hardwoods from distant rainforests
- Reports have shown that tenants would pay extra for sustainable offices
- We have the mobile and wireless technology to change the way we work and the shape of our cities
We work hard to make our workplaces sustainable through a variety of ways:
- We practice what we preach, and aim to be green in our own offices
- Use energy saving equipment and components in the design and construction process
- Employ environmentally friendly construction methodologies and contractors
- Use materials from sustainable sources
- Build in processes for long term management & maintenance of our designs
- Employ BREEAM Whole Life Cycle Design principles to all that we do
