One of the UK’s leading workplace interiors companies, the Eastlake Group, has strengthened its Burdew brand by acquiring the assets of Wakefield-based furniture manufacturers, Greenwood and Wood’s manufacturing facility.  The acquisition will allow the Eastlake Group to build on its growing success as it moves towards reaching a turnover projected to be £40m in 2008. Leading workplace interiors specialist, the Eastlake Group, celebrated its biggest ever month of orders in April 2008, taking in over £8m. This massive figure more than doubled their record month for 2007.

Clients who helped to push the record figure over the £8m mark include the engineering consultancy, WSP, a major financial pensions + investments group and a major international bank. (more…)

The eastlake group has increased staff numbers working out of its head office in East Kilbride by 10 in the last quarter, taking total staff numbers to 180.

In addition to taking on new staff across all businesses within the group, others have been given new roles within the business.  Emphasis has been placed on increasing the strength of eastlake’s Major Accounts team, which looks after the organisation’s key client including BP, Scottish Media Group and Aegon.

East Kilbride based organisation, eastlake commercial interiors (eci) - a part of the Eastlake Group, has strengthened its board with the appointment of Julie Low as major accounts director.

This appointment come as the Group boosted staff numbers with eight new members joining across four of the organisation’s offices in the last three months.   Julie has been with the company for a number of years, has contributed significantly to its recent success, and will continue to focus on bringing in and managing major accounts for the business.

The Group, which underwent an organisational restructure earlier this year, has experienced an extensive period of growth over the last two years - including two major acquisitions in Leeds and Belfast. This growth period has resulted in a tripling of staff numbers and turnover which now sees the company employing almost 170 staff with a turnover of £34m targeted for 2007.

Philip, founder and CEO of the Cordless Group is a consultant, commentator and researcher on technology and workplace futures and has pioneered research into the impact of new technologies on work, the work process and workplace. He has worked with organisations such as Ernst & Young, Allen & Overy, GlaxoSmithKline, Jones Lang LaSalle and Ericsson on future workplace concepts based on emerging cordless technologies. Philip has also spoken at conferences around the world and authored a series of papers and books on workplace, technology and design issues.

Leeds-based Burdew joins Eastlake Group

burdew.jpgOne of the UK’s leading workplace interiors companies, the Eastlake Group, has strengthened its offering to customers by acquiring the Leeds-based furniture manufacturers, Burdew Contract Furniture Ltd.
The £800,000 acquisition is the second for the Group since an MBO by David Eastlake in 2003, and is the Group’s first foray into the manufacturing sector.

Burdew was established in 1974 and currently employs 28 people at its Leeds based premises. The company, which produces low volume, high quality furniture for many high profile clients such as the Commonwealth committee, last year reported a turnover of £2.8m and a profit of £150k. The Eastlake Group was a customer for over five years before the acquisition took place.

The Eastlake Group, formerly Georgesons, was subject to an MBO by David Eastlake in 2003. Since then, the organisation has gone from strength to strength, trebling turnover and number of staff. The Group carried out its first acquisition, of Belfast-based office interiors company CM3, last year. (more…)
